THE SEED
The wood of this sculpture comes from the interior of an ancient, imposing silver birch tree that was literally shattered by a hurricane.
At the point where the tree broke in two, this distinctive break, a splinter that acted like a seed was created.
I knew this tree well, cause it was part of my daily dog rounds. The sight of his destroyed tribe was painful. And yet there was also something powerful: this splinter lay there as if it were meant for me.
As if nature had deposited something. It was not a loss, but a passing on.
For me, this piece of wood became a symbol: a seed from the center of the birch, born from a moment of destruction, carried by inner strength.
For the further process, I waited almost two years until I was allowed to refine the blank to its completion in Baumgarten.
