BIRKENHELIX
Through our dog Nino at the time, I was out every day. Often on long, long walks through beautiful forest paths that shaped our time together.
At first I was unsure about this piece of birch trunk: Should I take it with me? Something made me hesitate. Two more rounds with Nino passed before the decisive impulse came.
Looking back, I realized why I found it so difficult to grasp the essence of this sculpture: the trunk was already in a strong process of decomposition. Its structure and substance began to decay.
The wood was on the brink. And that was exactly what was felt.
Perhaps it was precisely this fragile moment between becoming and passing away that touched me so deeply.
